I agree with your mom, your pictures are awesome girl!! You make me wanna be a photographer too, lol. You'll have to teach me some stuff when you come home! And maybe take some picture for me too? I'm sure Shaun wouldn't mind getting some new pictures of me, lol. ;)
For your first pictures I think these are awesome. I would have never guessed that they were your first!
